Join me as I share the 3 most important habits to implement this year.
Well hello and welcome to the very first episode of Beauty in Balance in 2023.
What a wonderful privilege to be alive in this year.
I think we live in very exciting times
There is a lot happening in terms of women’s health in medical research and the information that is coming out is truly life changing.
So therefore you are in the best place possible to change your health and your life for the better.
And as you know, I make it my absolute mission to provide you with the latest research and practical guidelines so you can easily implement that information so you can experience your best years in your 30s and 40s.
Trust me friend, it is totally possible!
So in today’s episode, I’ll be sharing with you the 3 habits that I believe you should be implementing in 2023 in order to bring your hormones back into balance.
Now I’ve never done new years resolutions.
I think it totally sets the majority of people up for failure, because usually we aim to make big changes.
But the things I’ll be sharing with you here today will be easy to implement, which will help you to successfully create new habits.
I think the start of the year is a good time to ask yourself how you would like to show up this year.
Are you happy with status quo or are there things that you know need to change?
As I personally reflect on 2022, I’m super grateful for my health and how it significantly changed a few years ago. I still wonder sometimes when those debilitating symptoms will be back. And then I’m super grateful every day that I now live without the inflammation, chronic fatigue, weight gain, irritability and so many other things.
As I look back on 2022, I’m extremely grateful for how this all affected my relationships with my husband and kids. It has truly been mind blowing.
No more irritability and emotional rollercoasters, which caused me to take it all out on the people that I love the most.
I’m also grateful for the women that I was able to help and support throughout 2022.
The stories of change has been so inspirational and humbling at the same time and I feel grateful for the part that I get to play in those healing stories.
And when I look ahead to 2023, there is quite a bit of change coming for us as a family and I’m truly excited about that. I’ll be sharing a little bit more in due course. We’ve also finished our massive renovation project at the end of 2022, so I’m truly grateful that we were able to do that. And now, our house is up for sale, so I’m excited to see how God will provide in every step of the next journey for us as a family.
In terms of my professional life, I’m so excited about 2023.
I know I’ll be able to help even more women to gain back confidence in their body.
To lose those debilitating symptoms that are affecting every single aspect of their lives. And I truly hope that you will be one of them!
Michiele and I always talk about our biggest ‘why’ behind every single decision we make.
Some decisions are really hard to make, but when we consider the ‘why’, it sometimes become way easier to make those decisions.
My biggest why behind my business is that I experienced life changing health changes after years of doctors visits and no results. And that made me determined to share that information with the thousands of women out there that are travelling the same journey. Women that are desperate for answers and solutions.
That’s why I keep showing up every single day.
And I truly hope that the information that I’ve shared over the last 12 months on this podcast, has provided you with many a-ha moments and practical strategies that you could implement.
Now, as you look ahead to 2023 and you know some change has to happen in terms of your health, I wanna give you 3 simple habits that you can start implementing that will help you to start moving in the right direction.
And if you’re not quite sure where to start after you’ve listened to this podcast, reach out to me. I would love to hear from you, cheer you on and provide you with the support that you need.
Ok, so if I had to choose only 3 habits that you need to prioritise this year, it would be these.
Number 1: prioritise walking.
As an avid crossfitter that didn’t miss a week of high intensity exercise for 10 years in a row, I can not tell you the mindblowing results that I’ve experienced when I stopped my high intensity exercise and took up walking every single day for 9 months.
I just wanna clarify here, resistance and high intensity training is important, but if you have hormones that are very unhappy and out of balance, the best thing that you can do is stop all other exercise and start walking every day, even twice a day if you have the time and capacity.
There is so much research showing that walking regularly helps hormonal balance, blood glucose control, helps with processing trauma, protects against insulin resistance, supports metabolic health, promotes a healthy gut, and so much more.
So for 2023, make a commitment to walk every single day and it’s especially beneficial if you walk after a meal. So maybe a good habit could be getting the family out after dinner for a 10-15 minute walk.
Number 2: Learn to never skip any meals.
Friend, if you’re currently or have previously done intermittent fasting and are considering it again, please do not follow this way of eating.
Fasting has a very negative impact on hormonal health.
I teach my students and clients to never do a single diet again, but rather to eat regularly and eat the right foods.
If you would love to learn more about this, i have a free 5-day coaching event coming up where I’ll be sharing more on this.
You’ll also get a beautiful workbook that will help you to take action, so I wanna invite you to join me on the 8th of January eastern time for 5 days of hormone health coaching inside of zoom. You can find the link in the show notes.
But for this coming year, commit to having breakfast every single day and having something to eat every 3-4 hours.
Trust me, you’ll be so grateful for more balanced moods and consistent energy if you implement this one, very important strategy!
And then lastly, number 3, practise daily gratitude.
You know, there is a lot of research on this topic.
But it’s actually a age old biblical principle. You’ll read in Phillipians 4:6-7 ‘Don’t ber anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. With thanksgiving right? And then it goes on to say the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds.
Research shows the benefits of daily gratitude include improved sleep, improved mood, stronger immune system, decreased in depression and anxiety, improvement of chronic pain and a decreased risk for disease.
Can you imagine if a pill had all of these benefits? I can guarantee you that we’ll all be taking it.
Your brain will constantly be geared towards problem solving, and you actually have to be quite intentional to override that design and focus on being grateful for all the wonderful things that you have in your life. If you make this an intentional practice, you will reap the rewards of it.
For us as a family, we often practice this around the dinner table.
I also make it part of my morning routine to write down on my daily planner the things that I’m grateful for.
And especially when I don’t feel too great emotionally, I make a choice to voice things that I’m grateful for to my husband and even to my kids.
I wanna encourage you to try it. Because not only does it have all the benefits that I’ve already mentioned. It will also help you to intentionally turn off your fight and flight nervous system, and turn on the rest and digest nervous system.
This means that you’ll intentionally down-regulate the cortisol response, which will have a huge beneficial effect on your hormonal health.
So there you have it, the 3 habits that I wanna encourage you to prioritize as you head into this new year.
As you can imagine, there are heaps of others that I could mention here, but the key to successfully implementing lifestyle change, is to start small until you master those and then keep pushing forward.
If you feel really serious about taking back control of your health this year, I have a free 5 day coaching event starting on the 8th of January eastern time and I would love for you to join me and other women on those 5 days!
I’ll be sharing some small actionable habits that you can implement that will have a significant effect on your health if you commit to practising them every day.
So if you’re ready to take action my friend, join me on that 5 day coaching event. You can find the link in the show notes.
My wish for you in 2023, is that it will be your best year yet. That you will discover how to look after your hormones and your body, and that you’ll come to adore the body that you get to live in! This will in turn affect your relationships in a way that you will never be able to imagine.
I also pray that you’ll get to know the Creator of the universe in 2023, through understanding the incredible sacrifice that Jesus has made for you when He died on the cross.
I’m excited to have you on this journey with me in 2023 my friend.
Thanx for being here.
Thank you for making a commitment to your health
And thank you for allowing me to guide you on this journey
I can’t wait to see what 2023 holds for you.
Until next time, bye for now
